Chris Rehmann earns Outstanding Achievement in Teaching award

The common sentiment among students who praise Chris Rehmann’s teaching style is his support for and care in their success.

That dedication to students earned Rehmann, Joel A. and Judy Cerwick Professor in Environmental Engineering and Institute for Transportation (InTrans) faculty affiliate, the Outstanding Achievement in Teaching award from Iowa State University’s College of Engineering.

The award recognizes faculty members for outstanding teaching performance over an extended period of time, totaling at least five years at Iowa State and at least 10 years of teaching experience.

“I have never felt this much support in a class before. We can tell you want us to succeed, and we want to do well in return,” read one statement from a student in support of Rehmann’s nomination.

Other students noted Rehmann’s courses as “hard, but I learned so much” and pointed to his skills in encouraging discussion, answering every last question, and even “dad jokes.” These skills both help motivate students and offer them much needed support in challenging times.
