CMAT’s Shane named W. A. Klinger Teaching Professor for Construction Engineering

Construction Management and Technology (CMAT) Program Director Jennifer Shane is the recipient of the W. A. Klinger Teaching Professorship of Construction Engineering.

The appointment recognizes Shane’s teaching and research leadership in the construction engineering program at Iowa State University (ISU). In addition to her role in the CMAT program, Shane is an associate professor in ISU’s Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) Department.

The W.A. Klinger Teaching Professorship was created by a gift from the estate of William and Catherine Klinger. William Klinger was the founder of W.A. Klinger Inc., an Iowa-based construction company. In the 1950s, he was deeply involved in helping to create Iowa State’s construction engineering curriculum.

The professorship was previously held by Institute for Transportation (InTrans) faculty affiliate Charles Jahren, who was recognized as a Morrill Professor in 2019 and the university’s first recipient of the W. A. Klinger Teaching Professorship.
