InTrans releases En Route, annual report for 2022 calendar year

2022 InTrans Annual Report displayed atop easelThe 2022 En Route, the annual report for the Institute for Transportation (InTrans), provides an opportunity to look back at the notable mile markers we passed during the year.

“With 2022 miles behind us and only the future ahead, it’s time to slow down, review, and reflect,” said Shauna Hallmark, InTrans Director. “It’s often hard to see how far you’ve come when you’re always thinking about the next project or the next task.”

There were plenty of moments and interactions in 2022 that offered InTrans staff an occasion to review and reflect, as it was another year of coming together and finding new ways to take part in the shared InTrans vision.

The recently published annual report for calendar year 2022 includes a summary of the work continued by the institute’s 15 centers and programs as well as the year’s highlights and accomplishments. The new report can be downloaded in PDF format.

Many of this year’s notable interactions came at events. For the first time since 2019, the Mid-Continent Transportation Research Symposium was held in person in Ames, gathering more than 250 like-minded people to learn about key transportation issues. Additionally, the Iowa Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) broke attendance records in 2022, reaching more than 5,800 people across Iowa.

Other noteworthy moments this past year came at the conclusions of projects or the publication of final deliverables. InTrans staff completed 91 projects and published a total of 41 reports, tech transfer summaries, and guides for InTrans partners in state agencies, industry groups, and the federal government.

In addition to detailing the events held and publications produced in 2022, the annual report includes the following highlights, among others:

  • Major accomplishments in 2022 from the Bridge Engineering Center, Center for Transportation Research and Education, and National Concrete Pavement Technology Center
  • Awards and honors received by InTrans staff and students
  • Insights into InTrans by the numbers

“These accomplishments are a record of our continued growth,” Hallmark said. “So, join me, even if only for a minute or two, and let’s idle together and envision the road ahead.”
