About the research

This research covers the activities required for the continued support of the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and local agencies’ pavement management practices while also combining two existing pavement management related projects (Iowa DOT pavement management optimization and the support for the Iowa Pavement Management Program [IPMP]).

The work covers both implementation and operation activities, including database maintenance and updates, data collection technology evaluation, automated distress data collection, data quality assurance, pavement management software, and training.

The work tasks are often interrelated, and work on such related tasks will often be conducted simultaneously.
